I'm reworking backstory and Pokémon teams for many side characters, so I wanted a thread to put 'em on. Put side characters here is basically what I'm saying.

WANTED: POKÉMON FOR HARRY'S TEAM

Description: Negative word themed, endemic to Kanto preferably.

Reward: Uh...

-

I'm feeling eccentric today. Sue me.

-

Harry's old team:
Charmeleon
Fearow
Tentacruel
Vileplume
Tauros
Piloswine

Harry's new team (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
Wartortle
Fearow
Tentacruel
Vileplume
Muk
Weezing
-
Butterfree

NOTES:
Fearow, Tentacruel and Vileplume I am very happy with; the rest are subject to change.

Possible replacements include: Weavile, Houndoom and Aggron.

Those three Pokémon are iffy as they aren't from Kanto. Houndoom would be best as Johto and Kanto seem to be in the same landmass, with Aggron and Weavile both being last resorts ('agg' is only part of a 'negative' word and there's already 'Vile' in Vileplume). They will likely replace Muk and Weezing, as a) those words are not outright negative, and b) because TOO MANY POISON TYPES.

Darcy Bloom - He’s about twenty-two and a Grade Gamma. He’s fairly tall and has golden blond hair and dark brown eyes. He came from Vermillion City. He’s very calm, mature and even. Even though he rarely laughs he almost always has a small smile on his face and is very good with dry humour. He notably acts extremely calm around Sabrina and is one of the few people who can successfully calm her down, though he claims she makes him nervous. He has an excuse; when he was still in training he lost control and she pretty much beat him up psychically. He acts as the PR rep and damage control, being skilled with technology and web design and very charismatic. He's also the Saffron Gym's representative in Team Rocket, and is officially an agent, but his allegiance is still to the Gym first.

Samuel De Sota - He’s an eleven year old Grade Delta. He has black hair and grey eyes. He’s brilliant with empathy, and quite outgoing, and Darcy kind of adopted him as a little brother. His older sister, a non-Psychic called Yasmin, lives in Unova training under Burgh in both battle and art. He and his family live in Saffron City. Sam’s one of the only people who isn’t scared of Sabrina (though to be fair he’s only been there three years) and acts jovial and bright around her like everyone else. He’s good at sensing the approximate skill level of Psychics and helps Doris divide into classes, but overall he’s there as the unofficial only positive and optimistic voice.

Doris Dallyfield - An old woman, a Grade Beta Psychic. White-haired and from Lavender Town, she’s stereotypically wise, cranky, and keeps a scheiße-ton of sweets in her pocket. She’s very good with kids, and her main talent is with foresight, but she’s quite skilled with telekinesis. She’s scared of no one and happily hits people with a walking stick - but Sabrina ‘gives her the shivers’. She heads up timetabling and management of classes, and is basically the vice-principal.

Rebecca Franklin - A woman of about forty-five years, a Grade Delta. She used to live in Fuchsia City, but now stays in Celadon City. Your ‘average’ Psychic in terms on introversion and high intelligence, she owns shares in many scientific corporations, used to be a professor of both Chemistry and Business and sat on the board of the Celadon University and the Castelia Institute for Technology. She manages finances and is the official ‘owner’ of the Saffron Psychic School, though she defers to Sabrina like everyone else.

Jared Perez - He’s a Grade Delta thirty-five year old man and father of two; Tyson and Kaya. His wife, Fiona, is a non-Psychic and so are his children. Though quite shy, introverted and very subdued he comes alive around his family and other Psychics. He also manages the administrative aspects of the school, though has background as an architect and engineer and keeps the place maintained. Fiona is a high school math teacher and comes in to teach the younger Psychics. Jared is understandably terrified of Sabrina and avoids her where possible.

PostSubject: Re: Side Characters   Side Characters EmptySun Jan 10, 2016 1:12 am

Edward ‘Ed’ Spencer:
Edward Spencer grew up in Hoenn’s Petalburg City to painfully regular parents; a father by the name of Crosse who worked a desk job at Devon Corporation and his mother, a stay-at-home mum by the name of Eunice. Ed was underwhelming by all accounts. He was not exceptionally talented at anything, and otherwise didn’t have much going for him. He was painfully average, one could say. He was beginning to get slightly depressed with his apparent normality. He tried everything; studying really, really hard (to no avail; his grades did not improve, and no ‘nerdy’ topics seemed to interest him), training extremely hard for certain sports (a failure; he was uncoordinated and his body did not respond too well), even practicing intensely at music and art (he was a lacklustre musician and very bad artist). His parents were kind and supportive but the family suffered from a chronic lack of communication, and the true extent of Ed’s feelings remained unrevealed. All the while, his parent’s marriage became more and more strained.
Still only seven, Ed created a whole world to distract himself; his father was a knight, a champion, like the little dolls and figures he had, and his mother was his father's strong and able lady. He named others in the story as well; the children in his class, his teachers, people he saw on TV, all became his dolls as part of an elaborate story. When he was in that world  he’d invented, he felt calm, in control, at peace. However, it got to the point where he began to struggle differentiating story from reality, and he referred to people at school by their ‘story’ names. He was alienated, more alone than before. This lasted for years, until he was eleven.
One day, however, at school, professor Birch came in as a guest speaker. He taught everyone about the three starters of the Hoenn region; their biology, history, significance, etcetera. He then invited students to come up and interact with the Pokémon. When Ed went up, he felt like he was in his element. He befriended the Treeko and made a good impression on the other two, to the point where Birch said that he ‘wasn’t bad’ with Pokémon.
That one statement fuelled Ed more than he’d ever admit. Sure he’d found his calling, he collected pocket money for four years to pay for a Pokédex and trainer ID. Birch still had the Treeko he’d met, and together, they set out on a journey. Ed was utterly devoted to battling, breeding and perfection in ever aspect of Pokémon; he couldn’t fail, no matter what. This was the only thing he had, and there were no second chances no turning back. He found Pokémon who felt like him; devoted utterly to battle, or those who were lost in this world, seeking refuge in imagination. His team became strong, to the point where he came second in the Hoenn League. Utterly devastated by his failure, Ed moved on to Johto, where he came third, and then Kanto. He took a short break from training to do a BA in Pokémon Biology in Celadon University. By the time he finished, he was twenty-six.
Ed took on and defeated seven of the Kanto Gyms. However, when he got to Viridian City’s, he received news that his mother was discovered to be a member of Team Magma who had married his father, a former Team Aqua agent, to find team secrets. This clashed with the imagined reality of his father as the legendary Red Knight, who was a paragon of goodness, and his mother as the Lady Una, an independent, skilled, brave and loyal woman. Ed suffered a mental breakdown and was unable to even think of battling or defeating the Viridian Gym; his whole world was crumbling around him.
Ed would have fallen there if it were not for Blaine. Impressed with Ed’s skill and determination (even if he drove his Pokémon hard and was very, very obsessed), Blaine offered Ed a chance to get into the League proper with an actual job. Ed took the opportunity gladly. He trained under Blaine for two years and funded himself by winning competitions. After that, the League took him seriously, he was given a job running classes for wannabe trainers and their Pokémon. After a building up a few more years of administrative skill and building his resume, Ed was nominated to manage Raphael.

Ed: Though a nice guy and quite regular on the surface, Ed is fundamentally obsessed with perfection and Pokémon. He cannot take failure in any forms and has breakdowns when confronted it. He is definitely unstable, complete with tics, nervous habits and paranoia, and cannot deal with the refutation of the world he’d created. He still has a habit of comparing people to characters from his world.

Team:
Sceptile - Guyon - Sceptile was that Treeko from long ago in Elm’s lecture. He has the perfect self-control; he never indulges in anything, always pushing himself hard. In essence; he’s just like his trainer. Because of his dreamy attitude and scrawny look, he was rejected by many new trainers. He developed fantasy worlds and set himself training goals, and also strives for nothing less than perfection. He accepted the name Guyon, the name of a knight from Ed’s stories.
Nidoqueen - Florimell - When she was a Nidoran, Florimell was constantly pushed around, belittled and bullied. All the Nidorino and male Nidoran picked on her, as the runt, the weakling. She was picked on constantly for being too pretty for battling or fighting or being of any use. It became too much, and Florimell began the trend of running away, fleeing from anything and everyone, refusing to ever return a feeling or a friendship in fear of being hurt once more. Then, she encountered Ed. Ed’s personality appealed to her own, and he gave her the nickname Florimell like a character from his stories who constantly ran for a similar reason. She too strives to become strong and defeat any who belittle her.
Mawile - Dessie - Short for Despair, Dessie certainly earned her nickname. When still a very young Pokémon she became extremely depressed when the breeder who hatched her abandoned her. She wondered around lost for a while, until she found Errour as a Bagon. She formed the brains to his brawn, the two becoming fast childhood friends— playing pretend games Dessie would invent where they were both much stronger and more loved. Unlike Ed, Dessie cannot tell the difference between her stories and reality, and at times gets confused, and constantly flips between two personalities; a shy and quiet little Mawile and the confident tactician of her imagined worlds. She is not just a sad and lonely little Mawile; misery likes company, after all, and she is a very loyal, trusting friend to have.
Sylveon - Tanaquill - An imaginative and powerful Pokémon, Tanaquil is good at getting what she wants. Good with manipulation, she doesn’t even have to be present to influence actions. She is so kind and caring that many a Pokémon she meets wants to become her friend, and it is very difficult to speak ill of her. She is a good leader and a natural battler, always striving to get better. However, she comes across as uppity and slightly haughty, and breaking down her walls show a well of insecurity; when she was still an Eevee she suffered from a raging inferiority complex around other Pokémon, and responded by training herself and acting as this perfect Pokémon. She still strives to be perfect, terrified of being the inferior one once more.
Vespiquen - Britomart - Powerful and pretty, Britomart is a strong battler, and very confident. She’s very skilled in battle, seeing it as her calling, and identifies with Ed in that way. However, she is very impulsive, and judges one by their looks, not what is inside. She has an irrational fear or mirrors and seeing herself inside them, mostly because she’s afraid of seeing herself on the outside and seeing herself as different than what she see on the inside, thereby ruining her whole modus operandi.
Salamence - Errour - Errour doesn’t really think; he just acts. The brawn to Dessie’s brain, he’s not dumb, per se, just simple-minded and somewhat brutish, so others often get that impression. Dessie’s childhood friend as a Bagon, he accidentally helped his friend get through depression and also inadvertently helped create her psychosis. He’s helping her get back out of it, though. Errour is a kind and gentle soul, but a fierce fighter— he is incredibly tough to beat, and seeks only to get stronger and better at flying. However, the only person he does care about is Dessie, and his loyalties are to her before anyone else.

PostSubject: Re: Side Characters   Side Characters EmptyWed Jan 13, 2016 8:16 am

I wrote this for Team OJ! Just a cute little scene, doesn't have to be canon.

-

Odette teleported herself into the Team Rocket helicopter, a wild grin on her face. “Whew! That was fun! We should do that again some time!”
Fred’s face was white as a sheet, Grant looked like he’d eaten something rotten and Janet’s expression resembled a thunderstorm.
“She almost put me in a coma!” Fred cried. “That’s not fun! My head still hurts like hell.”
“I was more terrified than I’d ever been in my life,” Grant growled. “And not in a fun horror movie kinda way. I want revenge, dammit!”
“And this way, we don't get money from the League for the trainer boy and we don’t get money from the Thrones for the rich boy, and we don’t get any rare Pokémon!” Fred gave Odette a pouty look.
“In short; no compensation.” Grant mirrored Fred’s expression. “No compensation for a very definitely not-fun experience.”
“And she broke my gun,” Janet said, sulking. “I liked that gun.”
Odette shrugged. “It was fun for me.”
“Fun?” Janet growled. “That wasn’t fun. That was a failure. You were supposed to keep the Psychic occupied for much longer than that!”
Odette shrugged. “We’re always going to get another chance.”
Janet glared at her. “No, we’re not! Chances don’t grow on trees, y’know. ‘Failing’ means failing! It means a black mark on our record and a lower likelihood of being trusted with important missions, or any at all. Do you not understand that? And besides, the next time we get a chance, their Pokémon will be much stronger and the Psychic might be much more skilled.”
Odette snorted with laughter. “Oh, please! That Sonia couldn’t control her powers if her life depended on it!”
Janet scowled at seeing the grin on Odette’s face. Odette continued, undeterred. “They might train, but so will we. And by the looks of it, they don’t get along at all. We work as a team and they can’t.”
Grant laughed. “That’s true! When we tag-teamed against those two boys we were crushing them!”
“Yeah!” Fred agreed. “They were completely out of sync!”
Janet’s expression was still dark. “Odette, you had the Zorua. Why didn’t you take it?”

Odette shrugged. “It’ll be more fun next time! I might get to have a Pokémon battle!”
Janet gaped at her. “You willingly let the Zorua go?! So you might have a Pokémon battle next time?”
Odette nodded. “Yeah. So?”
Janet facepalmed. “You are insane! Why’d we have to get stuck with a supervisor like you?!”
“Why does everyone seem so surprised that I’m insane?” Odette wondered aloud. “I always thought it was quite obvious.”
Janet looked like she was fighting back the urge to scream. “You are hopeless. Did we gain anything from that or was it all a waste?”
Fred and Grant shook their heads in sync. “Nothing jumps to mind,” said Fred.
“Mental blank,” Grant agreed.
Janet glared at Odette, catching her smug look. “And you?” She said harshly. “Report.”
Odette leaned back, crossing her legs and putting her head on her hands. “Oh, nothing much. Just some very interesting little factoids from the head of our Psychic friend, Miss Darkin.”
Janet looked grudgingly interested. “Which are?”
Odette held out her hands, examining her claw-like pink nails. “Well, for one, poor little Sonia tried to drown herself when she first got her powers. It almost worked; now she has a terrible fear of water.”
Janet looked a bit happier now. “Could be useful. Anything else?”
Odette giggled. “Oh, you have no idea! It seems Miss Darkin suffers from mummy issues. She’s practically been raised by that Sawk of hers. Her mother’s not the most stable person; if we can make Doctor Darkin crack…”
Janet nodded. “I’ll get it filed. Anything else?”
“Her powers were blocked artificially when she was very young, apparently,” Odette continued. “Unfortunately, dear Sonia doesn’t know much about it other than the fact her mother wanted to keep her away from Psychics.”
“We know why that is,” Fred said gleefully, giving Grant a sideways glance.
“Yup!” Grant grinned. The pair were good with tech; they’d done quite a bit of digging on the Darkin family.
Janet leaned forward. “How’s that useful? Does that affect anything?”
Odette nodded. “It’s the reason she’s so bad with her power. Her power has built up a lot, but because she hasn’t grown up with it, it’s far beyond her capacity to control. It’s like…” Odette’s expression twisted as she mused on a good comparison. “It’s like if someone who was really talented with music didn’t discover it until quite late, and had this huge talent but didn’t have the skill to back it up. I know what to expect now.”
“You’re a psychiatrist,” Grant piped up. “Anything there?”
“Undiagnosed PTSD, by my assessment,” Odette continued. “There was an incident when she was still in Icirrus City and she went into Dragonspiral Tower. Almost died; Druddigon attacked her and she nearly froze to death. She apparently has nightmares of that experience quite a bit, and repressed the memories. That looks like PTSD to me.”
“How’s that helpful?” Fred asked.
“In many ways.” Odette flicked dirt from her skirt. “Firstly, it means Sonia has two personalities. It’s not dissociative identity disorder, or multiple personality disorder for you uninformed laymen, but rather a split which typically happens to powerful Psychics; because of the effort needed to keep emotion repressed, their emotions develop into a separate personality, almost like a bipolar; there is a cold, rational and logical self that they create, and then a wild, emotional and uncontrollable emotional side. Because she has all this extra emotion to deal with, Sonia is one of those Psychics.”
Fred and Grant glanced at each other.
“And?” Janet said. “What else?”
“People with PTSD have triggers.” A wicked smile flashed across Odette’s face. “You pull those triggers, you get panic attacks, flashbacks, violence, depending on the person. Now, we already know Miss Darkin is powerful but can’t control it. Imagine all that power on the loose from a panic attack, directed at her ‘friends’? We could get the law involved, and then she’d have no choice but to come to Team Rocket.”
There was a pause as the others took it all in.
"Oh!" Odette cried. "And she has OCD."
She was met with a moment of silence.
Janet sighed, leaning back. “Well, it’s a gambit, but it does sound promising.”
Fred and Grant both whistled at the same time. “That is one stuffed-up kid,” Fred muttered. “She has problems.”
“She ought to see a shrink,” Grant said, glancing at Odette. “Maybe you should offer her a session.”
Odette grinned, tapping her chin. “Now there’s a thought!”
Janet gave a long ‘hmmm’, deep in thought. Then, she glanced back up at Odette, a tired smile on her face. “Y’know what, I take it back. I’m glad to have you as a supervisor.”
“Yay!” Odette clapped her hands. “We’re all friends again!” She ambushed Janet in a huge hug, to which Fred and Grant happily joined in.
“Mmmph! Geroff!” Janet said grumpily, voice muffled. “I get it, we’re one big happy family, now get offa me!”
Reluctantly, the other three withdrew, sitting back in their seats.
Janet adjusted her Team Rocket uniform, trying to stay busy. “I’m still not happy about losing my gun.”
“Hey…” A thought seemed to strike Fred. “Grant! Quick! What were the move sets of their Pokémon? They were slightly different to what we already got!”
The pair immediately began to scribble down on a sheet of paper, inspiring Janet to do the same.
“So it wasn't all a waste!” Janet smirked, putting the last move down for the white-bowed Eevee. “They are a bit different from what we got from Fred and Grant’s digging.”
“Hey!” Fred and Grant said together.
“All that was there was on the d’Alcott kid was one video online,” Fred said, crossing his arms.
“And the Buizel’s profile on the Sinnoh Breeder’s Association site is outdated by a year,” Grant added, mimicking the gesture.
“And the Thrones guy is constantly adding and changing his Pokémon’s moves with TMs,” Fred said with finality.
“So we’ll always need to be extra careful about him,” Grant finished.
Janet waved them down. “Fine, fine, I get it! Jeez, guys, I don’t blame you two!”
There was a pause.
“Oh,” Fred said, blushing.
“Well,” Grant said, cringing.
“We’re sorry!” They said in unison.
Odette teleported to sit between the two, ruffling their heads. “Aw man, they’re soooooo cute when they do that!”
Janet smiled. “Well, at least we don’t have to tell the boss it was all a complete waste of time.”

Commission from Kenitoh and a brainstorm for Aileena. Not yet canon. Read and review; sorry for typos!

-

Aileena d’Alcott

Aileen grew up the only child of a fairly poor family. They had moved from Kalos to Kanto’s Celadon City before Aileena was born. Her mother, Celia Rivelstern, was stuck in a low paying job, fearful of changing as her husband had and being stuck in the rut of being unable to find any work at all. They had little to no support from other family members; Celia had been disowned by her family, and Oliver’s brother, Orlando, though quite happy with a family of his own in faraway Kalos (a wife by the name of Rosalind and three children, Gene, Amy and Dee) and relatively successful, could not always be counted on. Despite that, Oliver and Celia were very close, and always remained optimistic. It was always a bit of a mystery to Aileena.
Aileena was always quite sharp and clever, skilled with numbers, business and the like, but with her family’s resources they were unable to fully support her. Aileena decided that there was no way she would end up like her parents. Her plan succeeded; she coasted in the subjects she was good at, getting straight A’s in maths, science and the humanities, so she could devote all of her study time to her other subjects.
It all got very stressful at times, and Aileena thought she might crack under pressure. However, she befriended another girl, called Laylah, and she was always there when Aileena needed her. The two formed an everlasting friendship.
Aileena took every measure to ace her final exams. She succeeded, and her plan, to get a scholarship to a very exclusive business school, came to fruition.
Aileena had the best time of her life. She started on a Master’s in business, but inspired by Laylah, who went into teaching and the arts, she went into teaching as well. Though not normally social, she made more friends; Rowland Bryon, a Hoennan, Jacqui de Bois, a Kalosian, and Adam Dennison, a Sinnohan. They made a pact to start a business together once they got out of school. They weren’t the only ones; Aileena and the others made calculated friendships with their peers to turn into useful future connections in the world of business, such as an aspiring programmer, Juno Wood. While Aileena was at university, she got into equestrianism, quickly graduating from horses to Rapidash, making a Pokémon friend for life and winning many competitions. The Rapidash, Phoebe, grew so close to Aileena that the university allowed Aileena to become Phoebe’s trainer. Laylah and Aileena kept in touch, making sure they stayed friends.
In no time at all Aileena had secured a brilliant internship at the then-budding Silph Company. She was so successful in it and proved to be so intelligent that, after her internship was over, Silph actually hired her. At the time, it was no big deal, but Aileena accepted anyway. Aileena finished her teaching and business degrees and divided her time between her job at Silph and projects with her three friends. She got an apartment in Celadon City, officially moving away from her parents, even though she still promised to see them. Jacqui and Rowland even began dating; awkwardly, of course, as it was a first-time thing for both of them, and the two urged Adam and Aileena to get together. Finally, Adam and Aileena relented and went on a few dates, and decided to keep the relationship. As Silph was still fairly small back then, Aileena rose fairly quickly to a manager position, allowing her to freely pursue other business ventures as well— as long as she did her job well at Silph. Aileena and Adam got so close they got engaged and decided to try for a child, only for Aileena to make the fateful discovery that she was infertile. Aileena was crushed, as she had been in love with the idea of having a child, but Adam reassured her that it didn’t matter. Aileena caught up with Laylah often, making sure to stay in touch, and found out that Laylah had started dating a man named Gabriel Thrones. Aileena even met him and befriended him, and Aileena discovered that she had finally found what she’d wanted in life. Her parents were incredibly pleased. It all seemed so idyllic as she and her friends enjoyed relatively stable jobs in the unstable world of business. They even enlisted the help of Juno to bring their ideas to fruition, and their projects seemed more real than ever. Really, it couldn't have been more perfect.
It was, of course, too good to last. Disaster struck when Rowland and Jacqui, inspecting an old warehouse for refurbishment, were involved in a huge industrial accident. It seemed that the warehouse’s old contents had not been fully cleared out, and a huge well of chemicals had been stored there. There was a chemical spill and a chemically induced fire. Rowland was killed, and Jacqui’s body and face were horribly scarred and her hair permanently changed to a lurid green. Hiding her hair and her scars, physical and mental, Jacqui left immediately for Kalos. She became a leading member of Lysander Labs and came up with and marketed the Holocaster. But, unbeknownst to the rest of the world or her former friends, she became the masked Team Flare scientist known as Bryony, unable to deal with the loss of the man she’d loved and the picturesque life she'd lost.
Meanwhile, back in Celadon, Adam and Aileena awkwardly continued to work on their projects, the C-Gear and Wonder Launcher. Their relationship had fallen apart completely, the engagement broken off. Though most people would have tried to work through it, the two weren’t just a couple; they were friends, and more importantly, colleagues. The void left by their friends was too great, too all-encompassing, and trying to deal with that and a relationship and work was simply too much. For Aileena, it was hard to believe they’d ever actually been engaged. It wasn’t just social; Jacqui’s bright and creative ideas and Rowland’s careful planning and reasoning were sorely missed. It got to the point where it was painful and Aileena relinquished her role almost completely to Juno.
Aileena was glad when the project was over and Adam left to try and find sponsors in the unexplored market of Unova. The idea was quickly picked up and a company created, aptly named Wonder Gears, and Aileena, Juno and Adam all owned large shares in it. It became successful quite quickly, a competitor to the Pokégear, which was starting to fall out of use in Unova.
Adam got an offer to sell his share and go work for Pokétch back home in Sinnoh. He accepted, quickly becoming a top-notch member of Pokétch. Juno became the main brain behind the Wonder Gears devices, and gradually fell out of touch with Aileena. Aileena herself stubbornly kept her share in the new company but still kept her distance, to the ire of the ones who’d bought Adam’s share.
Laylah announced to Aileena that she was getting married to Gabriel and wanted Aileena to be her bridesmaid. Aileena agreed, for her friend, despite the personal hardship it caused.
Aileena suddenly found that she was getting ineffectual in Silph. It had happened so slowly, she’d barely noticed; she had been very well-respected, if not the highest ranked, but it seemed like she’d lost all credibility. She’d been gradually losing her sway with the board members and the CEO, and found restricted documents and strange transactions she’d never seen or heard of being authorised. Aileena found a board member who had been sidelined and silenced, similarly to her; Jasper Audrey.
Silph began making decisions which made little sense, with events following on after proving them to be the right move all along. Silph grew exponentially, becoming a huge corporate power in very little time. Aileena and Jasper stayed employed, still valuable, business-savvy entrepreneurs, but they seemed to be completely ineffectual in most decisions, despite Jasper being a board member and Aileena being a well-respected manager. Aileena and Jasper got so worried they enlisted the help of Juno to hack into Silph and open some of the documents, fearful there was something dangerous going on. Juno, using the codename Arden, used the resources of an online hacking group and began to work at cracking Silph. Aileena made a snap judgement and left Silph, becoming a shareholder and giving up her job as manager.
While Juno worked on getting Jasper the documents, Aileena, using her teaching and business credentials, became an economics teacher at a private high school. Her new career was going exceedingly well. Even though financially, she was quite comfortable with her shares in Silph and Wonder Gears (to the point of being able to move to a small house) she was socially miserable with only Laylah and Gabriel for comfort.
It wasn’t long before it was revealed she had made the right decision. She received the news; Jasper had reportedly gone mad, experiencing psychotic episodes and attacking other board members of Silph, and had gone to the police with some documents supposedly claiming Silph had been involved with Team Rocket. The claims got more and more ludicrous; that Silph had ordered assassinations, committed fraud, had sabotaged other companies. Jasper was later killed when he crashed his car during a supposed psychotic episode, and the documents were never found; they seemed to never have existed.
Aileena tried contacting Juno, but she refused talk to Aileena. When Silph inquired, Aileena feigned ignorance, but was secretly terrified; Juno had clearly found something, and Jasper had tried to publicise it, only to be silenced. Aileena knew that Juno and Jasper had probably found something, even if she didn't know what it was, and that she should probably do something about it. But after Jasper, Aileena couldn’t bring herself to try follow up on it.
After a while, Silph faded back into being nothing more than a company Aileena had a share in, a position Aileena was very happy with. Aileena tried out another relationship, but found it too difficult; her past refused to let go of her and after a few months, she broke it off. It seemed that she was cursed with an inability to keep friends; her colleagues at school seemed to only form half-hearted friendships, and those who did become better friends with her were jinxed with bad luck; only Laylah and Gabriel were safe. But not even then; Aileena found herself increasingly jealous of their happiness. Their wealth, both material and otherwise, grated at her; Aileena had finally found the answer to the mystery of her parents’ happiness. Material wealth meant nothing if you had nothing else. No love, no child, and her only true friendship was being eaten away by envy. Her social life was cursed. However, her life in business, as usual, was the opposite; charmed. She rose to the top of the school, becoming a popular teacher with the students and principal of the school, and Silph and Wonder Gears remained successful, flourishing businesses.
One day, a student entered the school by the name of Raphael d’Alcott. He was an orphan, raised by the League, and Aileena was told to watch out for him. Her desperate wish to have a child rekindled by Laylah herself having a son, Aileena reached out to Raphael and proposed to adopt him. The League agreed, thinking it wise that he have a mother figure (apparently, Agatha and Lorelei weren’t the best choices. Something about Agatha having a grandson and Lorelei being… Lorelei). Raphael agreed, and Aileena became his guardian. Beyond happy that Aileena could finally fulfil her dream of having a child and perhaps finally get over the death of her friend and then her colleague, Aileena did her best with Raphael, resolving to be the best mother she could and rid herself of her envy toward the Thrones; they were her best friends, after all. However, she seemed unable to quite connect. Once more, the curse on her social life came apparent; not even with her adoptive child could she foster a good, lasting friendship.

Personality:
Clever, sharp, and with knack for business, Aileena somehow manages to combine a kind, considerate personality with a ruthless ambition. However, she suffers from ambition's curse; her pursuit of material wealth has left her dead to love and friendship, things Aileena underestimated the importance of. Coupled with past traumas, and she finds it almost impossible to make emotional connections. Indeed, the only ones she has are from before the traumas and the success and Silph. Aileena also finds that it is easy to inspire her jealousy, to the point where she almost couldn't stand seeing Laylah's happy family. She is working through her envy, but when Aileena looks in the mirror, her eyes are always all-encompassing; she is always green with envy.

Pokémon:
Phoebe - Rapidash - Proud, argumentative and very self-assured, though she acts high and mighty and really should get off her high horse, she hides a genuine love and loyalty for those she cares about. Attracting her wrath is not recommended. Especially not via hurting her friends.
Silvius - Mareep - What can you say? He’s a sheep. He does whatever Phoebe does — well, tries — and is a bit of a yes man, but he is devoted to her, Corin and Aileena. He used to be Oliver’s Pokémon. Aileena likes having him around so that she doesn’t have to worry about blackouts.
Corin - Umbreon - Though rather elderly, Corin is wise and clever. Corin saved Aileena a while ago; she was inspecting a Silph warehouse when a power blackout occurred. Aileena was stranded alone as the electric door out of the room was frozen locked. Corin saved her, bursting open the door and using his lights to guide her out. Since then Corin and Aileena have been best friends.

Draft for Ian. Something doesn't feel quite right...

Oh yeah, sorry for typos.

-

Emilian ‘Ian’ Marmon:
Emilian, or Ian, as he prefers to be known, hails from Hoenn’s Mossdeep City. His mother, Evaline, was an astrophysicist working at the Mossdeep City space centre and Reece, his father, was a Psychic who worked a boring office job as Devon Corp. Ian also had a little sister, Sophie, who was four years younger than him. The pair shared an Eevee, nicknamed Celeste, whom Sophia wanted to go on a journey with. The pair led very normal lives until Sophia’s eleventh birthday.
Ian’s little sister had inherited Psychic powers from their father, and they burst out violently and obviously required some action. Ian cared very deeply for his younger sister, and the discovery that she was the Psychic was shattering for her, and for him. Though they were both very smart, he had always been the rational, logical one, and she had always been the emotional, intuitive one. Sophia being a Psychic robbed her of her core, her personality.
Ian became obsessed with finding a way to block or transmit Psychic power from one person to another. He was aware he was on a clock; the longer he left Sophia with her powers, the more likely she would become an emotionless shell, or worse. Ian manipulated a friend by the name of Juno Wood to hack him into an online neurochemistry course and then a psychology course, and through Sophia, stole as many textbooks and resources from the Mossdeep Gym that he could about Psychic theory.
Disaster struck when his sister turned fourteen. Unable to deal with restraining her emotions, Sophia went rogue, feeling as normal and not bothering to restrain the reactions her powers had. It wasn’t long before there was property damage and unintended injuries, and Hoenn’s law got involved. Sophia freaked out, running away and trying to fight pursuers off, but she was eventually detained. If a Psychic refused to control their powers, there were various ways officially — and unofficially — used to control them. Drugs which addled the brain in certain ways or otherwise made it difficult to function were used, as well as drugs which stuffed emotional responses, and Psychics skilled in telepathy were used to make constantly reinforced blocks on power or emotional functions.
When Ian heard about this, he became far more driven to do something about it. Unfortunately, however, he had just secured a place in the Castelia Institute for Technology to study engineering and computer sciences. He made his parents promise to look out for his sister as much as possible, and resolved to invent something which could help his sister.
After finishing his studies at twenty-one, Ian struggled finding a way to get his inventions going. Unable to find anywhere to study or get a research grant, he took Celeste, his sister’s Eevee, and Trista, his mother’s Cleffa, and went for a journey in Unova to see if he could get any money via wining tournaments and competitions, and if he could learn anything. He felt guilty for doing it and leaving his sister, but he also needed some freedom after university and school, and Celeste always comforted him when he was in crisis. Unova, luckily for him, was the most liberal region when it came to Psychic power, and it was far easier to seek out information and get to know many Psychics, although more than one person he came across was suspicious when he told them of his interest. He continued to work on prototype devices and seek out scientific opportunities, and got by on tournament wins and being a cheap freelance mechanic with his engineering skills. Celeste and Trista both evolved, and before long, Ian had built up a little team to help him in tournaments and as a mechanic.
Two years after he’d started his journey, at twenty-three years old, an opportunity came up that he scored; a Psychic experiment in Johto. With his Pokémon he left for Johto, checking in at Hoenn on the way. His parents were fine, but his sister, now nineteen, was pretty much constantly drugged up and unresponsive. Hardening his resolve, he went on to Johto. He arrived at the psychiatric hospital, and was told his job; to maintain the technology involved and to see if he could find ways to create technologies which incorporated Psychics and their powers. As a pleasant surprise, he wasn’t the only budding scientist there. There were a lot of people who had just graduated or had this as there first official job.
When the whole thing started, Ian was ambivalent. Sure, they were experimenting with actual human beings, and it did freak him out. But they were actually getting a lot of information from these experiments, much of which had previously been under lock and key by the Psychic community. There was one particular test subject who was still just a child, one whom Ian purposefully kept his distance from. It was whenever the kid came up in conversation that Ian felt the most guilty. He found that most of the others, mostly teens and young adults, nine in all, were not there of their own volition. Many had gone rogue over an unwillingness to control their emotions and had been handed off to them by the police, or had been signed over (in many of the teens’ cases) by their parents or guardians. Only one, a middle-aged man, was there by choice, and he informed Ian it was only because this way he wouldn’t accidentally hurt anyone and he didn’t have to try to use his powers. Ian, Celeste and Trista tried acting as friendly as possible to the Psychics, trying to silence the parts of their minds that whispered what they were doing was immoral. Ian was slowly losing his drive to continue, but whenever he saw Celeste he was reminded of his sister, and why he was doing it.
Ian met one of the hospital staff, a psychiatrist by the name of Alice E. Firth-Todd. Alice was very bubbly, always smiling gladly, and always around to help. She was generally accompanied by Alexander Meadows, an equally nice, if more subdued young man around Ian’s age. They became fairly good friends when they found they shared a similar discomfort with what was occurring in the hospital. Unbeknownst to Ian, they were actually Team Rocket agents (the one and only Odette and the poor guy who has to put up with her, Xavier).
One day, Ian asked Alice was the E in her name stood for. Alice smiled and told him, jokingly, that it didn’t stand for anything and her name was really a pseudonym, an anagram made from her actual name because she was really a Team Rocket assassin. Ian asked her what it really stood for, so she said ‘Evil’. He asked again, and she said ‘Evil-in, like Evelyn’. Alexander broke in and told Alice to stop joking around, and Ian never asked about Alice’s middle name again.
Ian stuck with it as much as he could. After all, he was gaining knowledge, pay, stuff to put on his resume. However, one day, it became far too much. One of the teenagers, a girl with black hair, dyed purple stripes and a few too many piercings called Nicole, tried to kill herself. Ian immediately resigned and left, disgusted with himself for having stayed as long as he had. It wasn’t long before he heard that the head scientist had been killed, and that the main subject they’d all been obsessed with, the kid, had been taken in by family. Ian couldn’t help but wonder if Alice hadn’t been joking, and sure enough, he couldn’t find anything about her or Alexander online. The next time he logged on to his laptop and went online, he received a message, reading ‘FIRST WARNING. DO NOT DIG UP WHAT YOU CAN’T REBURY.’ Ian, taking it to mean that if he found anything truly incriminating he himself would be eliminated, adhered to the warning and made sure never to look up Alice or Alexander again— besides, he was quite sick of Johto and anything that had to do with it.
Ian went to Kanto to take up an opportunity in Celadon with a tech company that wanted new hardware designers. He couldn’t focus on much, however, and was treading a thin line with being fired. He called home to ask how his sister was doing, only to find that his sister —a former chemistry geek — had found a way to kill herself via combining some of the drugs in a particular way to create a lethal toxin.
Ian became mostly shell-shocked. He quit his job. He withdrew emotionally almost entirely, and when he remerged from his physical shell, he still hadn’t come out emotionally. Everything was an act— a charming smile, an even voice, a measured posture. Even his Pokémon, even Celeste and Trista, feared that they had lost the Ian they knew. Ian decided to abandon Psychics, to abandon everything he had before; all it had lead to for him was misery, and he had emerged with nothing but information which would soon be published by the others who’d been involved in that experiment and easily found on the web. He got a job with the Kanto branch of Devon Corp, engineering and working on thing like the Pokémon centre healing machines and trade machines.
Ian found that he was struggling to focus without a concrete goal and decided on one as far as possible from his original ‘altruistic’ motives— money. Originally it wasn’t serious, just a tool of focus. But soon, like a drug, it became addictive. He started to actually want it. What didn’t help was that he was succeeding; with his new tool of focus, he was making quite a lot of money. He sent as much as he could back home, trying to help out, but soon it became clear to him. He was addicted to money. He tried to find other goals and tools of focus, but it was nigh impossible. He had abandoned caring for others a while ago, and he no longer cared much for Pokémon battling. When his Pokémon expressed a desire to get back on the battlefield, Ian absently though about giving them to his sister to train and for company, only to remember that she was dead.
He continued in this fashion, the false outside, made of smiles and charm, hiding and protecting the soft little soul that used to be him, fearful that if that part ever came out he’d crack and never mend again. he got into a rhythm, however, convinced his life was a good one. He made money his one major goal, but got to work with various big names like Caius Darkin and finally relented and went back into battling. He found that he was somewhat enjoying his life, but feelings of guilt for living like this without having been able to help his sister persisted. He battled, invented and worked, continually running away from the feeling something was missing. He continued to work on Psychic projects on the side, but always ended up scrapping them or giving them to others, like Caius, or Vivian Fennel, a colleague from Johto.
One day, simply and luckily enough, he bumped into a woman called Aileena d’Alcott in a café. The two, forced by lack of space, decided to share a table, and in no time at all the two were conversing. Aileena was the adoptive mother of Raphael d’Alcott, he found out, the trainer the League was sponsoring who was currently journeying, and was also a skilled businesswoman. The two talked, and soon it became apparent that both suffered from the same lack of social enrichment in their lives, despite Aileena having a son and Ian having many supposed ‘friends’ in his colleagues. By the time he’d left the café, Ian had somehow ended up with a date in three nights and a new, actual friend.

Personality:
A very intelligent and charismatic man, who could succeed in almost any field. However, it does say something about him that kindness and empathy come second to him, and he only shares them with those he deems worthy. However, those he cares about, he cares very, very deeply about, and certainly has a soft side. He is prone to petty overreactions when he doesn’t get his way and is extremely ambitious, with a ‘you gotta do what you gotta do’ attitude to life.

Pokémon:
Celeste - A motherly Espeon. Celeste is wise, kindly, and sweet, always helping out and offering compliments. She fusses over others and is extremely over-protective. She is an absolute demon when angered. She provides Ian with a lot of information on Psychics through her personal knowledge and through telepathic conversation with them. Even if she isn’t skilled enough to form a mental voice with those who aren’t Psychic, like Ian, she can still get impressions and intentions through and flashes of images.
Trista - A mopey Clefable. Very shy, quiet, and soulful. Generally unwilling to interact or be social, but very good in a fight or for comforting you when you’re sad, but always seems down in the dumps herself. She’s a very good Pokémon to have on hand when working with introverted people, can help out with building and fixing, and is always underestimated in battle despite being a formidable foe.
Monique - A no-nonsense punch-first-talk-later Liepard. Brash, haughty and somewhat arrogant, she joined Ian as a Purrloin because she wanted to battle a bit and was bored. Also because Ian was one of the only people around who still thought she was cute, as Ian didn’t know much about the reputation of Purrloins. She has a softer, more cuddly side. She’s still Ian’s main battler, though… and for good reason.
Dorian - A Herdier with an overly eager disposition. As a Lillipup he got into lot of trouble with other Pokémon for constantly play fighting and not shutting up, so when Ian offered him the chance to be a trainer’s Pokémon, he jumped at the chance. Always eager, always brave and never pessimistic, Dorian is also good for giving a happy, bright voice to help Celeste along, and to counteract Trista.
Alastair - A rather dimwitted Pidove. He started following Ian around, and, just to get rid of the constant ‘Pidoooove!’ calls, Ian caught him. He’s good for… Well, nothing. Ian’s tried releasing him before, but he always comes back. He has a habit of occasionally accidentally winning battles when he’s Ian’s last hope; probably because he knows it’s the only thing that’ll get Ian to like him. Not that it’s really been working, mind.
Morgan - A Watchog with an attitude. He is always there to criticise, be a bit of a jerk, and point out the ‘glaring’ and ‘obvious’ flaws in battle strategies, experiments and invention plans alike. He’s not bad in a fight, but he, like Celeste, prefers Ian’s scientific side, and is Ian’s main helper when Ian’s in mechanic mode. The other members of the team couldn’t decide who was more annoying— him or Alastair. General consensus has settled on Alastair, so the plan is, if some evil Team shows up, shove the Pidove out first. Then Morgan.

And here he is; Richard Destra! Excuse any typos, for there shall likely be some. Didn't have time to edit.

I tried to make his life relatively uneventful.

-

Richard Destra:
Born to Hubert Destra and Carly Edengarten in Olivine City, Richard was always a bright boy, if a bit of a daydreamer. His elder brother, Eremiel, was sixteen when Richard was born, and had moved off to university and to start a life before Richard got to know him as a brother. He had a slightly elder sister, Ariella, who was dead set on being a fashion designer, architect and set designer, especially in theatre. His father was a skilled and popular baseball manager, although he suffered from chronic bashfulness, and his mother was a confident and dazzling but somewhat arrogant former top Coordinator.
Richard was a friendly, sociable child, always perceived as the fun one, a clever and funny boy. He saw each and every person and Pokémon as valuable, as something positive in the world, and couldn’t understand why anyone would want to hurt anyone else.
When Richard was still in primary school, Richard saved a Growlithe from being run over. The two became good friends and skilled battlers, and everyone thought that Richard and the Growlithe, Leon, would go far in the League. Richard found that Leon was his only true friend; though he was popular and had many acquaintances, they all felt shallow and superficial.
In his early teens, Richard found that he was developing a ‘nerdy’ interest in the social sciences. At home, he’d seen a satirical new program, The Every Day Show. It was rather left-wing and it was a comedy, a rarity in Johto, but it did examine serious issues and made Richard question how much he knew about his home region. In particular, in the first episode he saw, it railed against a lack of government transparency and the violence involved in policing and in anti-Psychic task forces. Richard was almost ashamed to admit he and most of the people his age he’d met were grossly unaware of such things. At school he dedicated himself to the social sciences, and began to get the highest marks in the class.
His finals were comprised almost entirely of social sciences subjects. He passed with flying colours and went for a Master’s in anthropology, baccalaureates in ancient history and teaching, and a doctorate in modern history, all of which he succeeded in. He spent years in Kingston for it, in Goldenrod, but he felt it was all worth it. He continued to watch his favourite Johtoan satire news program, and with all his knowledge of history and anthropology, what was happening became all the more menacing. Government decisions were being made in secret, and racist policies against people of type continued to be brought up. And the situation with Psychics, in particular, made him cringe.
One day, while he was still at university, he met a young woman with dark purple hair called Suki Shimori. She was studying medicine, as well as teaching, which was where Richard met her. Suki was defeated, negative, and seemingly depressed. Rather than staying on campus, she always left early, seemingly so she could meet the curfew cleanly. She had made no friends and studied harder than everyone else, and no one knew where she went home to. She always wore long-sleeved shirts. Richard was guessing she was Psychic.
One day, she came with a black eye. Richard couldn’t stop himself and went up to ask.
Suki ignored him. Richard asked again, and she snapped at him that she was only an Epsilon. Richard asked if she was safe going home alone. She said no. He asked if she wanted him to walk with her; she looked at him incredulously and said he might miss the curfew. He shrugged, and said they allowed for travelling time. Though wary, Suki clearly did not desire another black eye, and agreed to let him walk her home.
Richard had never actually seen Wilful Town before, and would have preferred to keep it that way. Shocked, he asked Suki if this was where she really lived. Irritated, she showed him her barcode and gave him a sarcastic ‘No, I live in a mansion!’. Richard asked her how long she’d lived there, and she said since her powers surfaced, when she was seven. Richard was again incredulous, but Suki explained that her parents had disowned her, and that her only hope was to study hard, as she had been, become a doctor and move to Kalos. Richard professed hope that she’d get her wish, and the two parted ways.
Richard continued this trend of walking Suki back to Wilful Town each day; it took almost two hours to get there and back to Kingston, but Richard took it as a positive, that he was getting exercise. Multiple times people tried to harass Suki, only for Richard to step in; he wasn’t a big guy, but he was strong enough to be mildly intimidating. A few people at the university were incredulous themselves, some asking Richard if they were friends or were dating. During the day, however, Suki was just as antisocial to him as anyone else, and the rumours quickly passed.
Both at twenty seven years of age, Richard and Suki finished their respective doctorates at a similar time, already having finished their other degrees. Suki tried to get working experience as a doctor so she could better apply for Kalosian citizenship, but no one wanted to hire her or give her an internship or anything. Richard was given the opportunity to go on some archaeological expeditions in Hoenn, which he took, but for some reason felt quite guilty about leaving Suki. A year later, he returned (with an overdramatic Baltoy and an adventurous Lunatone in tow), and Suki was still living in squalor in Wilful Town, unable to get a job.
Richard met an old Kantoan-Johtoan by the name of Gary Greenman, who, despite being normal, had seen the plight of Psychics in Johto and had created a program that allowed Johtoan Psychic to get jobs in Kanto and from there, get working visas, and maybe even citizenship. Richard recommended Suki, and in no time at all (she was only an Epsilon, after all) she had a job in Viridian’s General Hospital. It wasn’t a GP in Kalos, but it was still something. Richard gave her Lunatone, telling the two to look after each other. Lunatone readily agreed, wanting to see more of the world and happy to help out someone who looked as downtrodden as Suki. Richard himself was quite done with Johto, and sought to get a job in Kanto as well, using his grandmother’s Kantoan heritage to get a passport— he got a job as a history teacher in a small high school in Celadon. Celadon was where Richard and Suki parted ways. Richard was happy to hear his sister had gotten into a theatre company in Sinnoh, and that his brother had finished his university degree (astrophysics) and was working in Hoenn; he was rather uncomfortable with Johto, despite his parent’s urgings to come back.
Richard found he was struggling monetarily. He and Leon tried battling, training up Hart (Baltoy) and catching a Mankey (Otto), but the team of Richard and Leon, despite being strong in childhood matches, was miserable in League tournaments. Richard quickly stopped, and besides; there were many highly dedicated trainers out there who deserved the wins more.
Richard, however, was as happy as he’d been in his life. He had many colleagues he felt he could gladly call friends, and he called Suki when he could, always glad that she was happy and that Lunatone was doing fine.
Richard finally succeeded at securing a job at Ashford Academy as a history teacher, not only a better paying job, but one which would allow him more resources and to work with ever brighter people. He had no idea, but the long overdue twist in his life story was finally about to come.

Personality:
Richard is clever, kind and sociable, with a big heart to care for the entire world, but overtly selfless to the point of doing stupid things, being reckless and risking himself needlessly. Though loud, confident and good with people, he is actually introverted and requires his alone time. He gets shy speaking in front of a crowd, and is easily embarrassed. He can be a bit of a boaster, and really prizes each and every one of his achievements. He loves watching political satire, baseball, and contests.

Pokémon:
Leon: A Growlithe Richard saved, the two were an ideal team, with Leon being passionate and brave and the two making a strong team. Lack of practice, however, and lack of Fire Stone means Leon’s fallen out of his battling skills. He’s also reckless, and would jump into a burning collapsing building to save a little girl’s doll that she left inside. He’s still a brave and loyal team member though, and always there for comfort, support, and a big old cuddle. He loooooooves his cuddles…
Hart: An overdramatic, incredibly sensitive and very emotional Baltoy. He genuinely cares about every little thing in the universe— literally everything. He tried to stop Richard taking antibiotics because it would kill the poor little bacteria. Needless to say, the two get on, but don’t so much as pull a leaf of a tree around him; he shall decimate you. Then sob over the poor little leafy.
Otto: A hyperactive and very sociable Mankey with a penchant for jokes and humour. He loves to come into class and interact with students, lightening up the atmosphere and generally taking the posh out of Ashford Academy. Students love him— but the faculty are still divided.

Apology for typos.

------

Sabrina Severn:
Asocial, bitter and with a biting wit, it was obvious since Sabrina was a young child that she would follow in her father’s footsteps both in personality and as a Psychic.
Sabrina was the daughter of a skilled, if haughty and self-isolating trainer, Selena Borden, and an infamous Psychic agent for the Kantoan government, Lowell Severn. Lowell had been married before; after the continued stress of Lowell’s job, he and his previous wife, Caihara (a very traditional Unovan from Nacrene City) had agreed to end it. Caihara moved back home, taking their daughter, Yannoa, with them. Selena, on the other hand, as a skilled trainer and athlete, had been picked up by the International Police. She and Lowell were a perfect match.
Not that this was good for Sabrina, mind. Still only four years old, she had no other friends in their home of Lavender Town, she did not spend much quality time with her parents, and refused to go outside when at all possible. Indeed, she was quite content simply playing with her dolls and ignoring the outside world, as it ignored her. There were times when she socialised with the Mediums of the town, but they were few and far between.
It soon became clear, however, where her motivation was coming from; Sabrina had discovered her powers, and had become obsessed with them.
Day after day Sabrina did nothing but train her powers. She was exceptionally talented as a Psychic. She naturally defaulted into an emotionless state, she obviously possessed much more raw power than her father, and her skill was improving rapidly, beyond even her father’s years worth of training. When she was six, she asked her father if she could take the certification exam; she passed, becoming not only the youngest person to gain Grade Alpha certification, but the youngest person ever to gain certification period. Despite Lavender Town’s accepting atmosphere, Lowell and Selena decided to keep their daughter homeschooled, fearful not only for her safety but that of others. Sabrina ventured out more and became closer friends with many of the Mediums. One, by the name of Doris, was also Psychic. Despite the large age gap between them, the two became good friends. Sabrina earned pocket money by using her powers to help out the Mediums and other citizens of the town who asked for help. At first, it almost looked like she was getting better, getting over her obsession. But in the end it was just another way for her to work on her powers, and her obsession remained.
Lowell grew increasingly worried about his daughter’s hyper-obsession with her powers. Sabrina experimented with her powers and developed them, until, by age twelve, Lowell feared that he would be unable to contain her if she went rogue. Selena, worried for her daughter, urged Lowell to let her go on a Pokémon journey or let her become a Gym Trainer (a trainer working under a Gym Leader) so she could find herself her own way. Lowell, however, went down a different path; he tried to put a temporary block on her power.
Sabrina’s reaction cleaved her personality in half, into the relatively cheerful child she had been, and the cold, ruthless machine that remained. Sabrina soundly defeated her father and stopped him from blocking her power. However, a latent power came to light; her dual-typing, giving her Electric powers. Her mother was struck with the electricity and put in a coma.
Terrified of herself and her father, Sabrina fled Lavender Town. Using the pocket money she’d stored up over the years, got herself a secondhand Pokédex and a Trainer ID card. She decided to go to Saffron City, the nearest city and the biggest, a place where she could probably find something to sustain her. She was on the road when Doris found her and gave her Ai, a baby Abra, so they could look after one another.
Sabrina was still a twelve year old girl. Ai or no Ai, she didn’t have much to work with. Her father had not reported her as a runaway, likely fearful she would retaliate against him, and she was left mostly alone. Sabrina decided to go to the Saffron City Gym and challenge it.
The Gym Leader at that time was Lorelei. Lorelei humoured Sabrina with a one-on-one challenge against her Lapras, which Sabrina soundly lost. Worried about what she was to do, Sabrina confided in Lorelei, and the Ice-type Gym Leader let her become a Gym Trainer. Sabrina trained under her, becoming friends with Lorelei and even became good friends with Lapras. Lorelei and Lapras knew and respected that she was Psychic, and it filled Sabrina with confidence; despite this, Sabrina never revealed her dual-typing. Sabrina was revealed to be a very talented Pokémon battler. Lorelei gave her an Eevee, Maya, hopefully to train into a Glaceon, so that Sabrina could have an Ice-type for the Gym.
Lorelei was constantly away from the Gym, trying for a spot in the Elite Four. As such, she would often get one of her Gym Trainers to fill in for her, or simply close the Gym for a short while. Sabrina grew in skill until Lorelei began to use her as her stand-in Gym Leader. Sabrina only lost one of the matches she stood in for out of eighteen, and this was to a trainer who had already tried five times before. Rumours whispered that when Lorelei finally did become an Elite Four, Sabrina would be the one to take her place. Sabrina was fifteen at this time.
Unfortunately for Sabrina, this was not Lavender Town. Despite rarely venturing from the Gym and the area of the city around it, she still faced discrimination for what she was. Not all Psychics were as talented and as willing as Sabrina; many lost control of their powers or had no desire to control them, making them dangerous beings. Other Gym Trainers spread rumours and bullied her, both out of hatred for what she was and envy for her likely ascension to Gym Leader once Lorelei became Elite Four. Sabrina felt isolated, and afraid of confiding in Lorelei, became despondent. It wasn’t long before she was approached by someone offering her to join Team Rocket. As a powerful Psychic and skilled trainer she had been watched by them for a while. Sabrina, worried for her safety and Ai’s as her Pokémon, joined them and unofficially left the Gym, making sure to tell Lorelei to keep her registered.
She was in Team Rocket for four years, until she was nineteen. During that time, she gained a partner, a Venonat by the name of Igor, and the friendship of Koga, Surge, Giovanni and (unfortunately) Odette. Sabrina made connections with other Psychics, and soon had her groundwork laid. She got stronger; Maya evolved into an Espeon, Sabrina met and captured Briggs, a Hypno, Igor evolved into Venomoth and Ai evolved into an Alakazam. Sabrina developed her dual-typing, no longer fearing it and keeping it a secret.
When Sabrina turned nineteen Lorelei achieved Elite Four status, and Sabrina’s waiting game paid off. She asked to retire from Team Rocket, and was allowed to on the condition they be included in her plan.
Sabrina returned to the Saffron Gym just in time, her name still on the list. She put herself forward as one of the contenders for Gym Leader. Lorelei tried to name Sabrina, but Sabrina convinced her to allow for a tournament. It was six-on-six, but Sabrina went in with only four Pokémon; Ai, Maya, Briggs and Igor. She not only won, but did it by a landslide.
Sabrina finally implanted her plan, an idea that had been forming since she was fifteen. She’d seen all the untrained Psychics shuttled away to other regions for Psychic schools or simply put in prison for lack of control. She’d seen and faced the discrimination herself. And so, Sabrina made the Saffron Gym a Psychic type Gym, and formed the Saffron Psychic school in the network of tunnels and underground rooms inside the Gym. Using her connections from TR she got the funding and the teachers and soon, she had a registered Psychic school, right in one of Kanto’s central hubs. As part of Team Rocket’s deal, Sabrina offered them as a choice for Psychics needing to find work, protected herself by false evidence planted by Team Rocket that they had blackmailed her into it as a last resort.
For the past ten years, Sabrina has been the Saffron City Gym Leader and the head of the Saffron Psychic School. She has expanded her team and become one of the most notable Gym Leaders in Kanto and is recognised as one of the strongest, second only, of course, to Giovanni. Sabrina finally revealed her dual-typing to the world, and, after a study of data and certification tests, Sabrina is recognised as officially the strongest documented Psychic. Oh yeah, and there was that one really, really irritating time a kid came to challenge her who ended up beating her with a Haunter due to that stupid Psychic link she had with Ai... At least she got the Haunter out of the deal. And her mother woke up with Haunter's help, so there was that.

Personality:
Cold, ruthless and purely logical, Sabrina is almost the poster girl for Psychic personality stereotypes. Sabrina naturally defaults into an emotionless state and always naturally had difficulty with expressing emotions. She can be quite callous, bordering on cruel; she is harsh and strict as a teacher and does not tolerate discrimination against her or her Gym, and can lash out violently. Her other personality, when she lets it in, is bright, cheerful and full of laughter and humour; a self which was lost long ago, one which only Doris and Lowell can remember seeing. She has her soft spots, however; those being her Pokémon, Sonia, and, at times, Odette.

Pokémon:
Ai: An Alakazam. Ai has been with Sabrina since before her Team Rocket days, since he was an Abra. He is Sabrina’s strongest Pokémon, and is unflinchingly loyal to her. Dry and sardonic but cold and unfeeling, he has a broken bond with Sabrina which forces him to feel whatever she feels and can even transfer bits of his power to Sabrina.
Maya: An Espeon. A somewhat dreamy and air headed little Pokémon, she is quite beautiful, lithe and agile, and always seems elegant and poised. However, she is a genius ditz; she is incredibly smart and sharp, if you can get her motivated and interesting. She is a skilled battler; catch her in a fight and she’ll rip you to shreds with a sharp cunning and quick analysis born of skill.
Briggs: A Hypno. A bit slow on the social uptake and very awkward, but a wiz with information, smarts and battle. He makes and laughs at bad jokes. His weakness is cute cuddly things, but he’s happy to shred anything in a battle.
Kyu: A Kadabra. Quite studious, hard working and focused, she takes everything much too seriously and is overly eager to please, and is very offended when people slack off or don’t take things seriously. She is particularly ruthless, especially in battle.
Tessa: A Kadabra. Sweet, silent, sleepy and lazy, but powerful. Has no work ethic and  always seems to be silently judging everyone else. If you get her motivated, though, she will not stop until she’s finished something, no matter how stupid of an idea it is.
Heidi: A Reuniclus. A bright and intelligent Pokémon, she’s always smiling and looking for the positive. She loves humans and is obsessed with them, and tries to psychoanalyse whoever she meets.
Igor: A Venomoth. Quiet, analytical and silent, he is a good friend and was Sabrina’s second partner in Team Rocket, so she keeps him around despite lack of a Psychic type. He and Sabrina trust one another deeply, and he solemnly watches over the mental state of the team and acts as a guardian of their mental health… particularly Sabrina’s.
